Subject: The April 5th Project

The following are notes and action points from the first meeting of the April 5th Project (I figure everything needs a name but would certainly be open to alternative suggestions):

Date: November 20, 1997
Time: 6:45 pm Location: Gabriellas Restaurant (or a former furniture store according to Deven
In Attendance: Deven "The Kid", The late Martin Mosbacher and Nostradamus, the elder.

Opening remarks: "Oy" its getting hard to sit down.
Initial resolution: "Next time we eat somewhere with more light so we can read the menu."
Main Resolution: "Be it resolved that during the second quarter of 1998, preferably during the first week of June, the former senior management of The New York Independent Advocate -- now defunct and the first and only newsletter to exclusively cover Manhattan politics as a spectator sport -- shall organize a 30th anniversary gathering of individuals known to them who had a peripheral relationship to this undertaking as well as to the Presidential campaign of Eugene McCarthy and Senatorial campaign of Paul O'Dwyer. (I was trying to make the sentance longer but, alas, tired of the process. Yet another sign of aging.)

Positions summarized: Nos - "Hey, why not." Martin - "F-in A, bubba." Deven - "Gotta go now."

Action taken: The resolution was unanimously approved (over Deven's vehement objections).

Names of guests identified: Barry Dunkley, Richard Power, Richard Morgan, Ray Tekosky, Varya, Tracy Logia, Amy Davis, Amy Kaplan, Sherry Soloman, Chuck Soloman, Chicke Sher, Harold Ickes and his terrific looking assistant, Sarah Kovner, Victor Kovner, Wendy Owen, the Warehouse twins, Andrea Barzilay, Richard Socaretes, Jim Sherman, any and all Gelobters, Steve Press, Jerry Nadler, Richard Gottfried, the entire subscription list from the Advocate, Kathy Niederhoffer, Martha Dudman (who cares if neither of you two ever met her), Stuart Mott (who cares if none of us ever met him, he probably still has money left and might pick up the tab), Chickie Sher, Bill Clinton (because he seems to go to every party he is invited to). Well hey, I know I forgot half the names we mentioned, but it's a start.

Next Steps: Nos to establish Web page. Deven to begin amassing invitation lists. Martin to chronicle history. Varya, to cook us all dinner for our next meeting.
