Currently one of my favorite albums. I think they're channeling Mickey Katz.
6/17/02 Kazzi Shae Swing Found on the web
Kazzi has a great country voice and her "Swiss, Cowboy and Country" is one of the truly great cowboy yodeling songs.
1/14/02 Jelani Eddington and David Harris Fascinating Rhythms! Found on the web
Wonderful! I got it by mistake -- the publisher sent me the wrong CD and I fell in love. It's a piano-organ duet, played by two excellent musicians, who are clearly having a ball. I like the performance, the selection of tunes, the arrangements, even the engineering. JDW515326.

5/8/02 Rec'd an email from Jelani Eddington:
Hi -- I stumbled on your site by accident, and wanted to thank you for your nice review of my recording with David!  I'm glad you enjoyed it. Best wishes, Jelani [See Jelani's website]

Let the Rev. Solomon Burke cure what ails you. Burke, no longer at the height of his popularity, is nonetheless at the height of his powers. Finest secular gospel I know of.  Thanks to Wendy Wolf for turning me on to this.
Before  5/29/01 Cachao Master Sessions, Vol.1 Bill Wollheim
Thanks to Bill Wollheim for recommending this album. Top-notch musicians playing Cuban tunes -- and they really swing out. One of the best albums I own.

I was in a deli and heard what I thought was Neil Diamond singing "Rock of Ages." I went to West Side Judaica and said, "Do you have 'Rock of Ages' by Neil Diamond?" They said, "No, but maybe you'd like this 'Festival of Light' CD." I bought the CD and found the song I was looking for. It's not Neil Diamond but Marc Cohn. The CD is a compilation of material from various artists, and I recommend it highly.

Some albums cannot be recommended in their entirety, but there's a really good track that makes it pay to buy the whole thing anyway.
